Why Unnecessary Tables?
Hello there!
I started writing my own tables a few years ago. Some because I needed them for my games, and many other just for fun, especially those I could not find anywhere. After a while I realised I can put them together for other players and GMs to use and enjoy. And this is the result - or rather, the process.
My take on random tables and generators is not to go for many possible results - how many types of food do we really need, anyway? Rather I'm trying to put together tables that offer less but meaningful results, either as a solo table or as a matrix of two or even three tables put together.
Another thing I'd like to offer is a commentary that explains the basic background or offers ways to interpret the results. This is a powerful worldbuilding tool I think many players and GMs do not fully appreciate. They get a result, but do not stop to think what it means for the game world, or how it came to be.
You can find some drafts of commentaries it this version, and I plan to provide more in future - hopefully without it becoming a lesson.
If you have som thoughts or ideas, or some tables you'd liek to see, please let me know in the comments.
Have a great day!
